Chanin Coyle founded USA Intern, LLC after she realized the value that interns can add to an organization. While working as a Senior Media Coordinator for a corporate buyer of pharmaceutical and healthcare-related media, Chanin was assigned to help her department find assistants for the busy media planning season. Recognizing the opportunity for college students to gain real-world work experience, Chanin developed and implemented a semester-long Internship Program. Eventually, the program expanded to meet the needs of other departments throughout the company.
After her program became a success, other employers in the region began turning to Chanin for guidance in developing their own internship programs. Chanin started helping these employers access resumes, network with area colleges, and promote their organizations to students. Finding the process time-consuming and laborious, Chanin’s solution was to create a web-based business that would connect college students with local internship opportunities. This approach would help employers develop internship programs that could turn graduating college students into full-time hires. Chanin launched her first website, JerseyIntern.com, in April 2005.
After launching the company, Chanin initially devoted her time to working with college career centers, chambers of commerce, and other employer associations as well as with student organizations. Surveys, focus groups, and online communications from students, employers, and colleges have helped ensure the development of a website and services that meet user needs.
Today USA Intern, LLC has 50 internship websites that connect students to local internships on a state-by-state basis. Thousands of employers – including the FBI, NFL Films, and CBS News – have posted opportunities in over 80 career categories.
USA Intern, LLC is continually working to offer its users new internship opportunities in traditional, emerging, and growing industries. Individuals seeking a career change, re-entering the job market as well as international students seeking internship opportunities in the United States, also utilize the USAIntern.com network of websites that Chanin has developed.
Chanin is married and has two children ages 5 and 9 years old. She currently studies Tae Kwon Do with her daughter. Her husband and son have earned their black belt. She and her daughter are working toward the same goal.
