Author’s Forum and Book Nook at the 2009 Women’s EXPO!


This year’s Women’s Expo is proud to present an Author’s Forum with a morning and afternoon Breakout Session at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Both sessions, offered on Saturday, November 14 at Hartford School in Mount Laurel, will feature a four person panel of experienced and successful local authors (See schedule below). Meet, greet and pick their brains. Featuring the following forum authors: JoAnne White, PhD, Sandy Spadaro, Vicki Glembocki, Sandra Turner-Barnes, Bea Joyner, Ferida Wolff, Irene Pace and Patricia Perry.

If you’ve ever thought about writing your own book, you won’t want to miss this insider’s look at the wild world of writing! Attendance is on a first come, first seated basis. Each session will be conducted in round table discussion format and Q & A with topics ranging from self-publishing vs. agent/publishing houses, marketing & promotion, book stores and book signings, and beyond the book stores (TV, Radio & Oprah).

The Book Nook offers the opportunity to meet and greet the Author’s Forum panelists as well as additional local authors. Get first pick on new book selections and signatures! Author Biographies:

Jo Anne White, PhD
Jo Anne White, PhD, is President and CEO of Doc White Consulting Services, LLC, a corporate coaching and training company of twenty years. As a certified life, leadership and business coach, she empowers and inspires men and women and businesses to achieve greater health, wellness and success. Dr. White has been featured on the Internet and in local, national and international publications including Good Housekeeping, Web MD, Woman’s World and Women’s Day. She’s appeared as a frequent guest on radio and television networks such as NBC and CN8, World Talk Radio and Voice of America.

Sandy Spadaro
Sandy Spadaro is the current President of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners)-South Jersey Chapter and is a featured speaker with The Professional Woman Network and the International Speakers Network.  She has recently been named one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business and New Jersey’s Forty Under 40, both elite and well-respected achievements within the state’s business and media avenues. Spadaro is also a contributing author of the international book releases entitled “Overcoming the SuperWoman Syndrome” and “The Woman’s Guide to Empowerment”.

As a published author, trainer and marketing advisor, Sandy Spadaro is an enthusiastic advocate of women’s issues, empowerment and skills development, both personal and professional. Vicki Glembocki
Vicki is an award-winning magazine writer and essayist, author of the memoir The Second Nine Months: One Woman Tells the Real Truth About Becoming a Mom. Finally, a writer-at-large for Philadelphia Magazine, a columnist for Reader’s Digest, and a featured blogger on Oprah.com with her blog “Blunt Force Mama.” Her articles have appeared in many publications including Playboy, Ladies Home Journal, Parents, Women’s Health, More, Babble, Fit Pregnancy, and The Penn Stater. Sandra Turner-Barnes
Sandra Turner-Barnes is the winner of the 1996 Ebony Magazine Literary Award for Short Fiction. She is also the author of 4 books of poetry, “Always A Lady” and “That Sweet Philly Jazz, ”both out of print and “Too Much Woman” and “Do Lord, Remember Me.” Sandra’s popular poetry and jazz CD, “September Will Never Be The Same,” is available throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.  Sandra's first children’s book, entitled, “Beyond The Back of the Bus,” is scheduled for publication October, 2009 by Internationally renowned, Third World Press of Chicago.  Sandra Turner-Barnes is an art administrator as well as an artist, and she was appointed Executive Director of the Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission in May of 2006. Bea Joyner
Beatrice Joyner is CEO of Busy As A Bea Productions and currently lives in Philadelphia teaching a variety of parenting and self-esteem seminars based on her writings. She is a poet, documentary photographer, trainer, and consultant having earned her Master’s in Training and Organizational Development at St. Joseph ’s University. Ms. Joyner is one of only four African-American domestic humor writers in the United States and she is listed in “Literary Divas – The Top 100 + Most Admired African American Women in Literature.” She is the author of “The Emotions of Me”, “Don’t Need No Soaps, My Life Is Soap Enough!” and “A Taste of Things To Come”.

As a documentary photographer, Ms. Joyner has participated in a number of exhibits. She produced a one-woman exhibit entitled: “Oneness -- A Celebration of Black Catholicism at Most Blessed Sacrament Church .” Her latest exhibit, “In Search of Knowledge” is a collection of her original photographs of African-Americans in a variety of fields and is designed for teens and adults.

Irene Pace
Irene McCullough Pace is the author of Keys to Survival: Breaking the Silence about Cervical Cancer (2004) and The Why Me Antidote: A Woman’s Guide to Discovering God’s Purpose, Privilege, and Potential in Adversity (2009). She currently teaches writing and reading at Camden County College. A former journalist with experience as an investigative reporter and managing editor, her professional background includes work for The Chicago Reporter, the Wilmington (DE) News Journal, and the Philadelphia Bulletin. She has also held public relations positions in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Diego.  Irene earned her degree in journalism from Northwestern University. She is a frequent guest speaker at churches and retreats, and speaks regularly for Stonecroft, Inc., an international Christian outreach organization headquartered in Missouri. Patricia Perry
Patricia A. Perry received her degree in English/Journalism from the University of Delaware and was a panelist for the 2009 Circle of Women Writers Conference.

She also has appeared at the Collingswood Book Festival and has had many book signings throughout South Jersey. She began writing fiction 15 years ago and has been an editor in the medical publishing field for over 20 years.

The Haunting of the Owens Family is her first novel, and she is currently hard at work on her second.


Ferida Wolff
Ferida Wolff is author of 17 books for children and three essay books for adults. Her essays appear in anthologies, newspapers and magazines.

She also writes online at www.grandparents.com and is a columnist for www.seniorwomen.com. A former elementary school teacher and Yoga instructor, she now teaches stretching and meditation. Her website is www.feridawolff.com.
